    Default Tag question? Future continuous!

    Dear All,

This is an dialogue from an English book:

1-David: Could you give me some advice about finding an apartment?
2-Peter: Sure- this means you've had some good news, does it?
3-David: Yes, I got the job- I'm going to be doing some advertising for a PR agency

-May I replace does it by haven't you? and I'm going to be doing by I'm going to do

Thanks a lot and God bless you All!

    You're right.

I'd also like to point out that #2 is a little odd- more commonly it would read Sure- this means you've had some good news, doesn't it?

While your alternatives are possible, I prefer the originals.

    In published books:

    566 on "This means * doesn't it".
    http://books.google.com/books?q=%22T...G=Search+Books

    23 on "This means * haven't you".
    http://books.google.com/books?q=%22T...G=Search+Books

thus the original is much more frequent, and the reason it's about the meaning.

On the 2nd construction the correct progressive is "to be doing" which shows more continuity/duration and implication/visualization of the future situation. "Going" by itself doesn't guarantee progressive aspect here.
